Iowa PBS and the Festival of Trees & Lights deliver Winter Cheer

Officials from the Iowa Realty Festival of Trees and Lights stopped by Ruby Van Meter School on Monday, November 28, 2022 to deliver a lovely tree.
The Festival is an annual fundraiser for Blank Childrens Hospital. This is the 39th year of the sparkling celebration!
The school receiving a tree is also a long-standing tradition. Iowa PBS decorates a tree each year with popular characters from favorite children’s shows. The cost of the tree and decorations is underwritten by an anonymous donor with the stipulation that the tree be donated to Ruby Van Meter. (Before the two schools were combined the tree was given to Smouse Opportunity School.)
Brady loves to turn off the office lights to get good a look at the illuminated ornaments!
T-shirts, videos, frisbees, characters and other items from the tree will be welcome additions to the PBIS Store, where students can ‘buy’ them with accumulated positive behavior stars.  The tree will be given to an RVM family to decorate their home.
We are thankful to Iowa Realty, The Festival of Trees and Iowa PBS for brightening the office and bringing joy to our students.
