The ELL Parent Group (Spanish) gives an opportunity for our Spanish-speaking families to share information and support as they navigate their student's academic and social progress.

Swim competition for Ruby Van Meter studens to determine who goes to Special Olympics.

Students will be able to listen to a variety of musical performers and try out some of the musical instruments and dancing themselves.

Your student's homeroom teacher will work with you to set up a conference time.

Families with students ages 14 years and up are invited to attend an infomrational meeting on planning the next stages of your student's high school and post school plans. Topics will include IEP transition pages, work sites and employability goals, guardianship, 4+ services at DMPS, Easter Seals Vocationa Rehabilitation, adult services, Medicaid and Medicare.

The Ruby Van Meter PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year is the annual Basketball Jamboree. This year's event will be in the Roosevelt High School gym on Friday, April 12th. Doors open at 5:30 and the first tip-off is at 6:00 PM. Enjoy three Unified basketball games, raffles and a silent auction. Bring the whole family for a night of fun!

Please join us to celebrate 50 years of excellence in Special Education! The Open House will feature a short program with opportunities to tour the new playground and the sensory mural.

The Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Program allows students to reap rewards for meeting behavior goals. Monthly activities celebrate positive behavior and are organized by grade level. Groups may get extra time in the pool or gym or participate in a special activity in the classroom. School-wide dances are held in December and February. Spirit Day is held at the end of May as an extra-special activity for the entire school with crafts, a bounce house, visits from Des Moines First Responders and more.,
