Welcome to the new Ruby Van Meter website! Here you can find out what’s for lunch, learn about upcoming news and events and much more. Use the menu at the top of the page or the Quick Links menu to the right to find what you’re looking for.
The staff and students sincerely appreciate groups, businesses and organizations that would like to support Ruby Van Meter students with donations of school supplies. The needs of our students differ from those of students in regular educational settings. Every child in our building has their own individualized education plan, so we use few textbooks. Staff use white and color copy paper, Velcro and card stock to create our own learning materials.
Ruby Van Meter can always use:
White and Color Copy Paper Velcro Card Stock Paper
Batteries (AA and AAA) Forever Postage Stamps Glue Sticks
Dry Erase Markers Paper Towels Disinfecting Wipes
We have put together an Amazon Wish List of other items that are used to help our students with creative, social, math and communication skills. Many of these things are more interesting than the basics listed above. Take a look! If you make an Amazon purchase for us, please be sure to add a message so we know who to thank.
DMPS policy prevents us from accepting Amazon (or any other type) of gift cards at this time.
We are pleased to welcome you to the virtual backpack for Des Moines Public Schools, our central hub for information about school and community events and information of interest to students and their families. The new virtual backpack allows the Des Moines Public School District to distribute school and community information electronically to parents, staff, and students.
