Ruby Van Meter Students Operate Coffee Shop

“Plymouth Grounds”, a coffee shop run by Ruby Van Meter School students and volunteers from Plymouth Church has been in operation since January 2012.  It is located on the 42nd Street side of Plymouth Church at 4120 Ingersoll.

“Plymouth Grounds” is open to the public and offers a wide variety of coffee, drinks and pastries.  Customers have the  satisfaction of knowing that they are helping students brew more than just coffee.

The coffee shop provides the opportunity for students to generalize and practice academic, social, and work skills in a community setting.  transitioning skills from school to a naturally occurring environment in the community is an important part of the educational process for these students.
