New Letter to Parents/Guardians/Caregivers – Week of May 18, 2020
5.19.2020
Ruby Van Meter Students, Families, and Caregivers,
We are starting Week 4 of Distance Learning. Your student’s last school day is May 28th, 2020.
1. Online resources provided by the district are accessible at DMPS@Home. This will be the homepage for all district information for distance learning. Check it out!
2. Your student’s should have received their 3rd and final learning packet. Please contact your student’s teacher if you have any questions.
3. Virtual Classrooms using Microsoft Teams will be offered this week by your students homeroom teacher and/or your students reading and math teachers. There will be a reading and math focus this week. Teachers will be referencing lessons from packets so those may be helpful to have near by.
4. Parent/Guardian/Caregiver support has been very much appreciated during our virtual classrooms. Whether you are supporting your students ability to access technology, model communication, reinforce lessons, and/or set up structures for learning, it is all appreciated! We enjoy partnering with you in this collaborative effort to support learning for your student.
5. Controlled Access for Parents/Guardians to pick up personal student items. If you requested your student’s personal items, your student’s teacher will be contacting you to determine a pick up date. We will offer 4 days;
• Monday, May 18th from 12:00-3:00
• Tuesday, May 19th from 12:00-3:00
• Thursday, May 21st from 12:00-2:00
• Friday, May 22nd from 11:00-1:00
We are winding down to our last 2 weeks of the 19-20 school year and looking ahead to the 20-21 school year. The Covid-19 virus created new challenges and new opportunities for learning. A survey will be sent out to all parents/guardians to gather much needed feedback on their experiences and their student’s learning experiences during the last few weeks. The district will use feedback from these surveys to guide our Return to Learn plan for the fall, once that information is available it will be shared with all parents and guardians. As always, the health and safety of our students, families, and communities are most important. Please continue to follow CDC guidelines and follow updates from the district on COVID-19.
