Annual Iowa Public Television Tree Dontation
Once again Ruby Van Meter School is honored to receive a tree from the Festival of Trees and Lights, an annual fundraiser for Blank Children’s Hospital.
An anonymous donor gives Iowa Public Television a donation each year to allow them to decorate a tree for the event, with the stipulation that the tree be given to Smouse Opportunity Center at the end of the event. Ruby Van Meter has been gifted the trees since we merged with Smouse in 2018.
Our friend pictured with this story LOVES holiday lights. One day he came into the office during his lunch period, turned off the overhead lights and gazed at the lit tree with adoration. After a few seconds he turned the lights back on and returned to the cafeteria- all without a word. Several other students love the chance to look at the tree and dream about using their positive behavior points to purchase the gifts on the tree from the PBIS store.
We are so thankful for Iowa Public Television’s continued support of Ruby Van Meter School.
