No School January 15-17, 2024

There will be no Des Moines Public School classes Monday, January 15th through Wednesday, January 17th.

We honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday and will hold professional development sessions for staff on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Forest Avenue Library (1326 Forest Avenue) will be holding an afternoon event to celebrate Dr. King, with DMPS Superintendent Dr. Ian Roberts as a keynote speaker.

The library’s annual celebration in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will start at 4:00 PM.

Live ASL interpretation will be onsite for the speakers, funded by the Forest Avenue Library Brick Fund. The  After School Arts Program (ASAP) will be leading a collaborative art project that children can participate in to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.

After introductions by the Friends of the Forest Avenue Library, Dr. Roberts will speak, followed by a Q-and-A session. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Forest Avenue Library Brick Fund.

School resumes on Thursday, January 18th.
